Sighting near Lake Villa

Location

Lake Villa, Illinois United States

Notes

The field rabbit rescuers that tried to help this rabbit were told that this rabbit has been running loose since August, 2020 when he escaped from former owner's yard as a tiny baby. Person has since moved out of state. Rabbit sighting was not reported until April, 2021. Neighbors in this area are extremely hostile and have interfered in every attempt to catch this bunny by calling police, physically chasing the rabbit aware from rescuers, etc. Animal control would not help, saying it was not their jurisdiction. Local police would not allow rescuers to capture this rabbit. Each attempt made was met with threats of arrest for trespassing, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace; none of which were true. As we were told, "outsiders" were not welcome in their area. Had we not been met with such resistance, this rabbit would have already been rescued and safe. Sadly, this rabbit has not been seen again since April 23, 2021. As we know, the law never works in the favor of animals and because of it, this rabbit is likely now dead.
